Hey there! My name is Michael and I am a SEO Specialist + Web Designer
I first moved to Kamloops in 2014 from Vancouver and here I held different positions in the fields of hospitality and food delivery. In 2016, I decided to further my education at Thompson Rivers University where I completed the Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) program at the Bob Galardi School of Business & Economics. At TRU I discovered a new passion for marketing, advertising, and branding. After completing a marketing plan for a local business, I knew right away that I wanted to help businesses in the Kamloops area and all across North America.
BrainStation Search Engine Optimization (SEO) Course
I had been working on websites for a number of years, but I wanted to improve my Search Engine Optimization skill set so I enrolled myself into the SEO program at BrainStation Vancouver in 2018. At BrainStation, I learned all about Search Engine Optimization best practices, SEO tools, conducting website audits, and how to rank websites organically on the SERP. With these new skills, I was able to start a career in digital marketing in SEO.
For the next couple of years, I worked at digital marketing agencies in the Lower Mainland and held a few different titles (SEO Coordinator, SEO Specialist, The SEO Guy) and worked on many different SEO and content marketing projects.
The scope of these projects covered the entire SEO cycle (On-Page, Off-Page, Local, Technical, and monthly reporting).

BrainStation Software Engineering Bootcamp
Fast Forward to 2021, I found myself once again enrolled at BrainStation, except this time in the Full Stack Web Development program. This was a full-time learning experience for 3 months. Here I learned about front-end and backend web development, and I now can look at websites in a more complex and detailed way.
In this program, I learned how to build websites from the ground up
- HTML, CSS (SASS), JavaScript
- React Library & Single Page Apps (SPAs)
- Rest APIs, Node.JS, Express
- DevOps
After completing my coding boot camp in December 2021, I started doing contract jobs and freelance SEO work. Now, most recently I have been working with a digital marketing agency out of the United States and they focus on helping individual therapists, therapy groups, other mental health professionals, and recovery centers. We have clients all across the United States, Canada, Europe, and the Middle East.
With my company being located in the United States, I work remotely and this gives me the flexibility to do more of the things I enjoy.
I like to spend a lot of time with my girlfriend & dog, go hiking, work on random SEO projects, workout, and binge series on Netflix.
In 2026, I would like to start working on a larger variety of SEO projects, build more WordPress websites, and it would be really cool if I could attend an international SEO conference.
